Every year on the last Sunday of January, Belarus celebrates Belarusian Science Day. Dedicated to the wonders of our nation’s scientific abilities, hard and productive work and impressive achievements of Belarusian scholars, in 2024 this Day falls the January 28th.
“Science, innovation, quality” – it is under this motto that all events occurring within the main professional day of our country’s scientists and research centres workers are held.
It is impossible to overemphasize the contribution into our country’s medicine and healthcare that Belarusian scientists have made. Last year, in 2023, medical science saw outstanding achievements, the Republic of Belarus health minister’s first deputy Aliena Kratkova said.
354 scientific projects were implemented and 128 new diagnostic and treatment methods were devised. These will help Belarusians maintain health and receive the most advanced medical aid.
The most important achievements are: the use of CAR-T-cell therapy in the treatment of high-growth lymphoma and leukemia in adults and children, application of treatment methods for premature babies to prevent severe disabling diseases using stem cells, inventions in traumatology and neurology and the creation of Belarusian vaccine for COVID-19 prevention.
Major efforts were made in the production of new medication. Every third new registered medicinal drug and every fifth devised and registered medical device are of domestic manufacture.
Belarusian medical scientists are planning to implement all existing projects on the creation of new medication and medical devices, continue making researches in cardiology, oncology, mother and child welfare, develop information technologies and incorporate artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The RSML team congratulates Belarusian scientific community on this Day! We wish you new scientific discoveries, inspiration and success in your honourable profession. May the desire for knowledge and research never dry up, and may your work continue benefitting the whole society and contribute to the progress of medicine. Wishing you happiness, good health, peace and boundless optimism!
