This year marks a notable event in the history of Belarusian medicine – the 105-year anniversary of the Ministry of health of the Republic of Belarus.
Established on January 20th in 1919 as Commissariat for healthcare of the Provisional Workers-Peasants Government of Belarus, nowadays this republican state administrative body addresses a variety of demanding challenges concerning nation’s welfare. Providing medical care and medicine, keeping sanitary and epidemic state in order, running scientific researches and implementing scientific and technical achievements into medicine – these and many other issues are tackled today by the Ministry.
The History of Belarusian Medicine Museum of RSML has prepared a “Ministry of health of the Republic of Belarus: 105 years of history” exhibition. The documents and materials displayed there introduces the key moments of the body’s evolution starting with the 1920s’ first campaigns of the Commissariat for healthcare of BSSR, ending with the new achievements.
The history is presented through the prism of endeavors of those who made invaluable contributions into Belarusian healthcare system. Here you can see photos and documents pertaining to famed leaders, such as Mikhail Barsukow, Ivan Surta, Kuzma Kisialiow, Mikhail Kavalionak, Ivan Insaraw, Mikalaj Sawchanka, Uladzimir Ulashchyk, Vasil Kazakow and others.
The exhibition is held in the hall of the 3d floor. Opening hours: from Monday till Friday – 10.00 to 20.00, Saturday – 10.00 to 18.00. Sunday – day-off. Free entrance.
